Question 886320: 1.Give your examples of scalars and vectors.
2. Solve the problem involving uniform motion:
One car starts from point A and moving to point B.
Another car starts at the same time from point B
and moves to point A along the same highway.
Assign your numbers for the speed of each car
and distance between A and B.
Make an equation with x as a time of movement.
How long it will take for cars to meet (find x).
3.Assign your numbers for mass and speed of the object and calculate the value of kinetic energy.
How kinetic energy will change if this object will increase the speed in two times?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
1) point B is 1000 miles due west of point A
a 2013 corvette leaves point A
at the same time a 2013 mustang leaves point B
2) top speed of corvette is 198 mph
top speed of mustang is 190 mph
we use rate times time = distance, the two cars will meet when combined, they cover 1000 miles
198x + 190x = 1000
388x = 1000
x = 2.58 hours
therefore in 2.58 hours our cars will meet
3) let's pick the 2013 corvette
top speed is 198 mph, curb weight of the corvette is 3355 pounds
Kinetic Energy is defined as 1/2 * m * v^2 where m is mass and is velocity
first convert the corvette's weight to mass, we use kilograms as the measure of mass, therefore our corvette has mass of 1521.8 Kg
second convert mph to kilometers per hour, therefore our corvette's top speed is 318.65 kilometers per hour
now we can calculate the kinetic energy(KE) of our corvette,
KE = 1/2 * 1521.8 * 318.65^2 = 77,260,129.14025 (Kg*Kph) per second^2
now if we double the top speed of our corvette,
KE = 1/2 * 1521.8 * 637.3^2 = 309,040,516.561 (Kg*Kph) per second^2
we can see that by doubling the speed of the corvette we have increase the KE by a factor of 4 times
