Question 886318: could you please explain step by step on how to solve 70/y+3=10 Found 2 solutions by stanbon, richwmiller:Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! solve 70/y+3=10
-------
Your problem is one of the following::
1st:: (70/y)+3= 10
Subtract 3 from both sides to get:
(70/y) = 7
----
Multiply both sides by y/70 to get:
1 = 7(y/70)
---
Reduce the right side to get:
y/10 = 1
---
Multiply both sides by 10 to get:
y = 10
===================================
2nd: 70/(y+3) = 10
---
Multiply both sides by y+3 to get:
70 = 10(y+3)
Divide both sides by 10 to get:
7 = y+3
Subtract 3 from both sides to get
y = 4

Comment::Please use parenthese so there is less
ambiguity in interpreting your problem.

You can put this solution on YOUR website! You want to get "y" on one side all by itself
so first get rid of the 3
by subtracting the 3 from both sides.
then bring the y over to the side that the 10 is on. How??
