Question 885233: six men and seven women apply for two identical jobs. if jobs are filled at random, find the probability of the one man and one women who are twins are hired Answer by Theo(13342) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! i believe this is going to be 2/13 * 1/12
on the first draw, it could be either one of the 2.
on the second draw it can only be the other one of the 2.
total probability should be 2/(13*12) = 1/(13*6) = 1/78.
another way to look at it is:
total number of ways you can pick any 2 out of 13 is equal to 13C2 = 78
total number of ways you can get the twins is 2C2 = 1.
probability is therefore 1/78.
