3x +2y = 1625
2x +5y = 2000
solve second equation for x
2x = 2000 -5y
x = 1000 -2.5y
substitute for x in first equation
3*(1000 -2.5y) +2y = 1625
3000 -7.5y +2y = 1625
-5.5y = -1375
y = -1375/-5.5 = 250
substitute for y in second equation
2x + (5 * 250) = 2000
2x = 750
x = 375
cost of compact computer is $375
cost of DELL computer is $250
