Thank you for your help!! This question is from textbook algebra structure and method
You can put this solution on YOUR website! x varies directly as the square of s and inversely as t.
x = k(s^2/t)
--------
How does x change when s is doubled?
If s is doubled you get:
x = k[(2s)^2/t]
x = k[4s^2/t]
x = 4k[s^2/t]
So, x is multiplied by 4 if s is toubled.
--------------
When both s and t are doubled?
x= k[(2s)^2/(2t)]
x=k[4s^2/2t]
x=k[2s^2/t]
x=2k[s^2/t]
So, s is multiplied by 2 if s and t are doubled.
