Factor both the numerator and denominator first.
f%28x%29=%28x%5E2%2B2x-24%29%2F%286x%2B24%29
f%28x%29=%28%28x%2B6%29%28x-4%29%29%2F%286%28x%2B4%29%29
Discontinuities occur in rational functions when the denominator goes to zero since division by zero is undefined.
In this case,
x%2B4=0
x=-4
There is a discontinuity at x=-4.
