Question 881228: If 3lbs of Trail Mix which is 55% peanuts is added to 2lbs of Mix Nuts which is 40% peanuts,what is the total percentage of peanuts? I solved this problem by converting the different mixes to lbs of peanuts adding them together and then divided by 5lbs, and finally times 100 for the total percentage= 49% peanuts. Just don't know what the algebraic equation looks like. I'm not a student, just an old guy that's loves math. I hope it's right. Thank you!

Equation: .55(3) + .4(2) = P(5), with P being the percent of PEANUTS in the 5-lb mixture
1.65 + .8 = 5P
