Question 881005: one number is two more than 6 times a second number, and their sum is 30
Answer by JulietG(1812) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! A = 6B + 2
A + B = 30
Substitute the known value of A from the first equation into the second.
(6+-2) + B = 30
Add
7B + 2 = 30
Subtract 2 from each side
7B = 28
Divide
B = 4
.
If the second number is 4, the first is 30-4, or 26
