Question 880898: I have my final Algebra Exam tomorrow. There are questions about parabolas and graphing parabolas that I don't understand because I wasn't there that day. My question is how do you find the axis of symmetry? Is there a formula for it?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
You need to complete the square. Once you do that then the parabola will be in vertex form. The vertex lies on the axis of symmetry.
Example: Find the axis of symmetry of y=x%5E2%2B4x
y=x%5E2%2B4x
y=x%5E2%2B4x%2B4-4
y=%28x%2B2%29%5E2-4
Now it's in vertex form. The vertex is (-2,-4).
The axis of symmetry is x=-2.
