You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Let the numbers be +a+ and +b+
Let +a+ be the larger
given:
(1) +a+%2B+b+=+148+
(2) +a+=+3b+-+2+
-------------------------
Substitute (2) into (1)
(1) +3b+-+2+%2B+b+=+148+
(1) +4b+=+150+
(1) +b+=+37.5+
and
(2) +a+=+3b+-+2+
(2) +a+=+3%2A37.5+-+2+
(2) +a+=+112.5+-+2+
(2) +a+=+110.5+
The numbers are 37.5 and 110.5
check:
(1) +a+%2B+b+=+148+
(1) +110.5+%2B+37.5+=+148+
(1) +148+=+148+
OK
