You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Average speed =

We find the total DISTANCE traveled this way:

%22%22%2B%22%22 %22%22=%22%22

Since we are give both DISTANCES, we just add them

30km + 40km = 70km = total DISTANCE traveled on the entire journey

------------------

We find the total TIME traveled this way:

%22%22%2B%22%22 %22%22=%22%22 %28matrix%287%2C1%2C%0D%0ATotal%2C+TIME%2Ctraveled%2C+on%2C+the%2C+whole%2C+journey%29%29

We are NOT given the TIME for the first part of the journey,
So we must use TIME = %28DISTANCE%29%2F%28RATE%29 to find the TIME for
the first part of the journey.

TIME for first part of journey = 30%2F6 = 5 hours

We ARE given the TIME for second part of journey = 5 hours

5hrs + 5hrs = 10hrs = total TIME traveled on the entire journey

Average speed = = 70km%2F%2810hrs%29 = 7 km/hr
