Hi

3(-6-2x)-(8x+2)=-48

 -18 - 6x - 8x - 2 = -48

      -14x - 20 = -48  

(note: If You are simply 'hopping over = ' with a term... CHANGE the sign on the 'hop')

Until You are more experienced, recommend thinking of it as adding 14x and 48 to both sides

     28 = 14x

      2 = x
