Question 878760: In a right triangle the longest side is 16, the shortest side is 6. What is the length of the third side in simplest radical form?

You can put this solution on YOUR website! we know by pythorgarus theorem that
(longestside)square = (shortside)square + (shortside)square
therefore shortside = √(longestside)^2 - (shortestside)^2)
= √(16^2 - 6^2)
=√216 - 36
=√180
factors of 180 are 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9, 10, 12, 15, 18, 20, 30, 36, 45, 60, 90, 180.
so using 36 perfect square,
simplify √180 to get √36x5 = 6√5
read as 6 root 5.
