Question 876988: in a music class of 5 students each listens to the same 4 songs. each student listens to his or her favorite song without consulting the other students. what is the approximate probability that all five students select the same song? Answer by DrBeeee(684) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The probability that a student picks one song is one out of four or
(1) P(select a song) = 1/4
This is the same for each of the five student. The probability that each selects the same song is the product of each one or
(2) P(all select the same song) = (1/4)*(1/4)*(1/4)*(1/4)*(1/4) or
(3) P(all select the same song) = (1/4)^5 or
(4) P(all select the same song) = 1/(2^10) or
(5) P(all select the same song) = 1/1024 or
(6) P(all select the same song) = 0.0009765625...
