You can put this solution on YOUR website!
a father divides his estate between his 4 sons, each son receiving an equal share. One of the sons died and 1/2 of his share was divided equally among his 3 brothers and added to each of their shares. What part of the entire estate did each of the remaining 3 sons receive?
let total estate is Rs X
it is divided in four equal part to each son =
share of each son = X/4
one son died his share 1/2 part divided to three son
1/2 0f died son share is =1/2 multiplied by X/4 =X/8 parts
x/8 part further divided in to three equal part =1/3 multiplied by X/8
=X/24 parts
this share is added to three son share
new share to each son out of three are =X/4 +X/24 = 7X/24
each son will have 7x/24 part of whole estate
verification
total share with 3 son 7x/24 each=21X/24
remaining share of died son will be X/8 part of estate . if you add both it will become whole part=21X/24 +x/8=24x/24= x means whole properties
