Question 876176: Four books are arranged in a row. What is the probability that a certain book will be at either end of the row? Write sample space also

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Let's say you have these 4 books: A,B,C,D. Let 'A' be that certain book.
You need to write down all the ways to arrange A,B,C,D to generate your entire sample space. There are 4*3*2*1 = 24 ways to do this.
Once you have your sample space, you'll be able to count how many times A is in slot 1 or slot 4. Divide that count by 24 to get your final answer.
