I have a 72 our final is worth 10 percent if our grade, what do I have to get on the final to get it up to an 80?
It's impossible, because 72 counts 90% of your grade!  
Here's how you would figure it if it were possible:

(90% of 72) + (10% of x) = 80

        0.90(72) + 0.10x = 80
            64.8 + 0.10x = 80    <--subtract 64.8 from both sides
                   0.10x = 15.2
                       x = 15.2%2F0.10
                       x = 152

You can't make more than 100, so it can't be done.
