Question 874185: If I have an 80% in a class, what is the lowest score I can get on the final that is worth 30% of our grade to keep at least an 80%? Answer by jim_thompson5910(35256) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! (weight of other classwork)*(score on other classwork) + (weight of final)*(score on final) = (Final Grade)
(0.70)*(0.80) + (0.30)*(x) = (0.80)
0.56 + 0.30x = 0.80
0.30x = 0.80 - 0.56
0.30x = 0.24
x = 0.24/0.30
x = 24/30
x = 4/5
x = 0.8
So you need to get at least an 80% on the final to get an overall grade of 80% or higher. This is assuming the grade isn't curved or anything.
