cot^2xsinx=(cos^2x/sin^2x)sin^2=cos^2x
the problem is that is incorrect since the question has the following options as the answer
sin^2xcos^2x
1+cos^2tanx
1-tan^2xcos^2x
csc^2x+tan^2x
1+cosxtanx
so where did I go wrong and can you explain step by step how to get he correct answer. That would be great

That is the correct answer.
The solutions are not in simplest terms.
One of the solutions does simplify to cos%5E2%28x%29.
I think you should be able to find it fairly easily.
