against current x - 2 mph
with current x + 2 mph

Distance against current 12
Distance with current 16
Time = same equate the time against with time with current
t=d/r
12 /(x- 2 )= 16 /(x+ 2 )
12 *(x+ 2 )= 16 *(x- 2 )
12 x + 24 = 16 x -32
12 x -16 x = -32 + -24
-4 x = -56
/ -4
x= 14 mph
