You can put this solution on YOUR website! We don't even need to do this algebraically since the age is given.
F = 54
12 years ago, F = 42
At that time, he was 7x as old as E
42 = 7E
Divide each side by 7
6 = E
12 years ago, Eric was 6. Now he is 6 + 12, or 18.
