Question 870510: two planes leave an airport at approx. the same time. One is flying 530 mph at a bearing of 352 degrees and the other is flying 425 mph at a bearing of 66 degrees. Determine the distance the planes are apart after 2 hours Answer by josgarithmetic(39630) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! You can view the first angle differently. Imagine 360-352=8 degrees in the OTHER side of the second plane. The angle difference between the two planes is 66+8=74 degrees.
Instead of actually my solving the rest of this problem, I only say these:
Speed in mph multiplied by time in hours gives distance; and you want to apply Law of Cosines to solve for distance between the planes.
