Question 87048: The demand function for the price of a certian type of computer software is given by d=750e^(-0.0005x) where d is the price in dollars and x is the number of pieces. How many pieces will be in demand when the price is $200? Round to the nearest whole number.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
d=750e%5E%28-0.0005x%29 Start with the given equation

200=750e%5E%28-0.0005x%29 Plug in d=200

200%2F750=e%5E%28-0.0005x%29 Divide both sides by 750

4%2F15=e%5E%28-0.0005x%29 Reduce

ln%284%2F15%29=-0.0005x Take the natural log of both sides. This undoes the base of "e"

-1.322=-0.0005x Evaluate the natural log of 4%2F15

-1.322%2F-0.0005=x Divide both sides by -0.0005

So our answer is

x=2644
