Question 869282: The heights of adult males are normally distributed with a standard deviation of 3 inches. To estimate the mean height of all adult males, a random sample of size 36 will be taken and a 98% confidence interval will be found. What is the margin of error for this confidence interval?
(a) 0.194 (b) 1.165 (c) 2.33 (d) 6.99
I used the confidence interval formula: Not sure if this is correct.
1 - .98 = .020
a/2 = .020/2 = .010
1 - .010 = .990
looking at the chart gives me 2.33 Answer by stanbon(75887) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! The heights of adult males are normally distributed with a standard deviation of 3 inches. To estimate the mean height of all adult males, a random sample of size 36 will be taken and a 98% confidence interval will be found. What is the margin of error for this confidence interval?
ME = z*s/sqrt(n)
----------------------------------
ME = 2.33*3/sqrt(36) = 1.165
----------------------------------
