You can put this solution on YOUR website!
how many liters of 30% silver must be added to 80 liters of 50% silver to make an alloy that is 40% silver?
----------------
Equation:
silver + silver = silver
0.30x + 0.50*80 = 0.40(x+80)
-----
30x + 50*80 = 40x + 40*80
10x = 10*80
x = 80 liters (amt. of 30% alloy to add)

Hi
.30x + .50(80L) = .40(80L + x)
.10(80L) = .1x
.10(80L)/.1 = x
