During a sale, the price of all televisions in a store is being reduced by 20%. Abe is interested in a television with an original price of $575.
part two: Two weeks later, the sale price of this television is reduced by an additional 5%. Abe thinks he can now get the television for 25% of the original price.
part 3: Describe how the sale price with the additional 5% reduction is different than a single reduction of 25%. use mathematics to justify your answer.

25% off of 575 is equivalent to:

20% off of 575 + 5% off of 575.

20% off of 575 and then 5% off of what's left is equivalent to:

20% off of 575 + 5% off of (575 - .20 * 575)

that second 5% is off of a smaller number so the discount is less.
