You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Two planes travel towards one another from cities that are about 450 km apart at rates of 240 km/hr and 210 km/hr. They started at the same time. In how many hours will they meet?
apply the "distance formula" of d=rt
.
Let x = time (hours) they meet
then
"distance traveled by first plane" + "distance traveled by second" = "distance between them"
.
240x + 210x = 450
450x = 450
x = 450/450
x = 1 hour
