You can put this solution on YOUR website!
x=1/5y
3x+2y=26
.
Replace x=1/5y for x in the second equation and simplify"
3(1/5y)+2y=26
3/5y+2y=26
3/5y+10/5y=26
13/5y=26
.
(5/13)(13/5)y=(5/13)(26)
y=130/13
y=10
.
Solve for the x-term by plugging (y=10) back into either equation:
3x+2y=26
3x+2(10)=26
3x+20=26
3x+20-20=26-20
3x=6
3x/3=6/3
x=2
.
checking:
3x+2y=26
3(2)+2(10)=26
6+20=26
26=26 [checks out]
