Question 866036: Solve the equation in the interval [0,360degrees). Give solutions to the nearest tenth, if necessary.
Problem: sin^2 theta-sin theta-12=0
I have factored out and have the results sin theta= -3 and sin theta= 4 I do not know where to go from there.

You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Solve the equation in the interval [0,360degrees). Give solutions to the nearest tenth, if necessary.
Problem: sin^2 theta-sin theta-12=0
I have factored out and have the results sin theta= -3 and sin theta= 4 I do not know where to go from there.
--------
sin^2(t) - sin(t) -12 = 0
Factor:
(sin(t)-4)(sin(t)+3) = 0
-----
sin(t) = 4 or sin(t) = -3
--------
Comment: -1<= sin(x) <=1
====
Ans: There is no angle where sin = 4;
There is no angle where sin = -3
Therefore the answer is NO SOLUTION.
