You can put this solution on YOUR website!
How would I substitute this problem
x + 2y = -5
subtract 2y from both sides and you have
x = -2y - 5
:
1/3x - 1/4y=13
get rid of those annoying fractions, multiply equation by 12
4x - 3y = 156
Replace x with (-2y-5)
4(-2y-5) - 3y = 156
-8y - 20 - 3y = 156
-11y = 156 + 20
-11y = 176
y = 176/-11
y = -16
I'll let you find x, check the solutions in the 2nd equation
Remember, minus a minus is plus
