Question 864549: Emma decided to put on a science show for her community. The price of admission is $4.25 in advance, and $5.50 at the door. After the show, Emma counts the tickets sold and finds that 558 people attended. She also counts the money from ticket sales and finds that she has collected $2,602.75. Emma would like to know how many people bought tickets in advance and how many people paid at the door.
*Rather than guessing and checking, I would like to learn another strategy to solve this problem. It would help greatly in the future for similar problems.*
Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
