You can put this solution on YOUR website! The two bicyclists were 300 miles apart at 3 p.m. and were headed toward each other. If they met at 9 p.m. and one was traveling 20 miles per hour faster than the other, what was the speed of each bicyclist? Can you include the rates and time of the problem please.
both cyclist in opposite side
let speed of one cyclist is x m/h
other speed is x+20 m/h
relative speed = x+x+20= 2 x+20 m/h
distance is 300 mile
time taken =9-3=6 hours
speed =distance/time
2 x +20 =300/6
2x+20=50
2x=30
x=15 m/h
other speed will be x+20=15+20=35 m/h
Answer 15 and 35 m/h
