You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Good so far . Now how can you use that information and the perimeter is 28 to find out what x equals?
P=2W+2L
28=2W+2L
3W-2=L
We now have two equations with the unknowms

The perimeter of a rectangle is 28cm. The length is 2cm less than three times the width. Determine the length and width.
Now I have tried to solve this and I got
3x-2=length
And let x= width
twice the length plus twice the width=perimeter
2(3x-2)+2x=28
divide by 2:
3x-2+x=14
4x=16
x=4
3x-2=10
width=4 cm
length=10 cm
