Qtrs: (x+2)

Nickels: 3(x+2)

10x + 25(x+2) + 5*3(x+2) = 1230    |CENTS makes sense

10x + 25(x+2) + 15(x+2) = 1230

  50x + 80 = 1230

   50x =  1150

    x = 23, number of dimes

CHECKING our answer***

 230 + 625 + 375 = 1230
