You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Matt walked at a rate of 4 mph.
He turned around and ran at a rate of 8 mph.
If he walked for 2 hours longer than he ran, how long did the whole trip take?
:
Let r = is running time
Let (r+2) = his walking time
:
write a distance equation, dist = speed * time
8r = 4(r+2)
8r = 4r + 8
8r - 4r = 8
4r = 8
r = 8/4
r = 2 hrs
:
Find the total time
2 + (2+2) = 6 hrs for the whole trip
