You can put this solution on YOUR website! I presume the given question to be x/3 - 1/4 = (3x-8)/12
LCD of the Left side is 12
==> (4x - 3)/12 = (3x-8)/12
==> 4x - 3 = 3x - 8 [multiplying by 12 on both sides]
==> 4x - 3x - 3 = -8
==> x - 3 = -8
==> x = -8 + 3
==> x = -5 is the solution
