You can put this solution on YOUR website!
Divide $500 among Mr Smith, Mr Jones and Mr White so that Mr White receives twice Mr Smith's share, and Mr Smith receives three times Mr Jones' share.
White's share and Smith's share are compared with Jones's share
so let Jones share be x
Smith receives 3 times as jones= 3x
Jones receives 2 times Smith's share = 2* 3x=6x
They all amount to 500
x+3x+6x= 500
10x=500
/10
x= 50
Jones --$50
Smith------------3x = 3*50 =$150
Jones = 6x = 6*50 = $300
Check
300+150+50 = 500
