A rational number can be defined as a number with a terminal or repeating decimal. Based on this definiton, both 1. and 2. are rational. In 1.: the repeating decimal is "492". Remember, the decimal doesn't have to repeat from the start. It just has to repeat at some point. In 2.: the deciaml repeats at "6721". They are therefore both rational because they both contain a repeating decimal.
