Distance traveled = speed * time = 45 * 3.2 = 144 miles

And you want to know the distance. So you rearrange this formula in terms of distance.

Cancel out "time" from the right fraction by multiplying the equation with it.
speed%2Atime+=+%28distance%2Ftime%29%2Atime
speed%2Atime+=+distance

Now you plug in the numbers, and units for speed and time and work out distance. Speed and time must have the corresponding units, and here they do - miles per hour and hour.
