P=no.of-favorable-outcomes%2Fno.of-possible-outcomes
So the no. of possible outcomes is 18 since there are 18 boy pupils, and the favorable is 8 since only 8 passed.
So,
P=8%2F18
P=4%2F9
or 44.44%25
