You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Let Martha = x
Martha plus (5 dollars less than twice martha) = $43.
x%2B%282x-5%29=43
Combine like terms
3x-5=43
Add 5 to both sides
3x=48
Divide both sides by 3
x=16
Martha has X and Mary has 2x-5

Martha has $16 and May has $27
