I'm not sure is one-half x squared is
x%5E2%2F2 or %28x%2F2%29%5E2
If it's x%5E2%2F2, then the difference is x%5E2%2F2
But, if it's %28x%2F2%29%5E2, and I suspect it is, the
difference is
x%5E2+-+%28x%2F2%29%5E2
x%5E2+-+x%5E2%2F4
3x%5E2%2F4 answer
This is easy to see if you just say x%5E2+=+y, then
y+-+y%2F4+=+3y%2F4
