Question 854705: The following is a question:
A card is drawn at random from a pack of cards. Let A be the event that the card is red
and B be the event that the card is king. Does the colour of card affect its probability of
being a king?
My thought process was- The probability of king is 4/52. But the probability of getting a red king is 2/52. Hence the color affects the probability of getting a king. KINDLY GUIDE!!! Answer by dkppathak(439) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website!
A card is drawn at random from a pack of cards. Let A be the event that the card is red
and B be the event that the card is king. Does the colour of card affect its probability of
being a king?
one card is drawn from 52 card than sample space will be =52
favorable events to being red =26
favorable events to be king =4
therefor probability of red cards = favorable events/ sample space =26/52=1/2
probability of king card=favorable events/ sample space=4/52=1/13
now how color will effect the probability
probability for red king=2/52=1/26
probability for red card or king card =1/2+1/13=14/26=7/13
probability for red and king card =1/2x1/13=1/26
this way we can that color of card will effect same time statement made also effect the value of probability
