Question 854269: 2. Last year, Jenny scored an average of 18 goals every netball game. This season there are 15 games, and from the 13 games played so far she has an average of 14.
a. How many goals would Jenny need to score over the last two games to do better than last year?
b. Is this a reasonable result to expect? Justify your answer.
You can put this solution on YOUR website! In 13 games she has an average of 14.
Average = Total goals / no. Of games
Therefore, total goals scored in 13 games till now =
13 * 14 = 182.
To do better than last year, her average has to be at least
19 from 15 games.
I.E. She has to score a total of at least
19 * 15 = 285 goals.
She has scored 182 goals in 13 games till now.
So in the remaining 2 games, she has to score
285 - 182 = 103 goals.
This is highly unlikely.
Hope you got it :)
