Question 854134: Hi I can't figure this out I'm in fundamental math in 7th grade, I saw this in class for how to do this but I forgot it and can't figure it out. The problem says "If one rectangle has a greater perimeter than another, must it also have a greater area?Explain your answer." Answer by LinnW(1048) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Consider a rectangle that is 1 by 100. Its perimeter is 100 + 100 + 1 + 1 = 202
Its area is 1 * 100 = 100
Now consider a rectangle that is 30 by 40.
Its perimeter is 40 + 40 + 30 + 30 = 140
Its area is 30 * 40 = 1200
Can you answer the question now?
