Let x=length of arm on 96kg side
And y=length of arm on 48kg side
Then 96x=48y or
2x=y---------------------------------eq1
Now we are told that x+y=24------------------------------eq2
From eq1, substitute y=2x into eq2 and we have:
x+2x=24 collect like terms
3x=24
x=8m-------------------------length of arm on 96 kg side
substitute x=8 into eq1 and we get
2*8=y or
y=16m--------------------------length of arm on 48kg side
