| Question 852237: Here is the actual question write an equation of the line containing the given point and parallel to the given line. Express answer as y=mx+b. it is from my foundations lab that I am using in school.
Here is the problem: (-10,8), 7x-5y=2. I get almost all the way to the bottom and here is my issue:
Y-8=(7/5) x+10......it says remove parentheses and simplify
Y-8=7/5x+14..... It says last step, add 8 to both sides. how did they get the 14??? I just can not get it!
Answer: y-7/5x+22......this is the resulting answer

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Here is the problem: (-10,8), 7x-5y=2. I get almost all the way to the bottom and here is my issue: Y-8=(7/5)(x + 10)......it says remove parentheses and simplify
 y-8 = (7/5)x + (7/5)10
 y-8 = (7/4)x + 7*2
 Y-8= (7/5)x+14
 ----------------------
Add 8 to both sides to get::
Answer: y = (7/5)x+22......this is the resulting answer

You can put this solution on YOUR website! Hello,
 y - 8 = (7/5)x + 10, should actually be written as

 y - 8 = 7/5(x + 10)

Now, multiply 7/5 by x + 10. This will give you:

 y - 8 = 7/5(x) + 14

Add 8 to both sides, which will give you:

, which is the correct answer.
