Question 851016: Tony is 8 years older than James. In ten years time he will be three times James's current age. How old is Tony now?

You can put this solution on YOUR website!

Let James' current age be x
Then Tony's current age = x+%2B+8

After 10 years, James will be x+%2B+10} years old and Tony will be x+%2B+8+%2B+10+=+x+%2B+18 years old

From the problem, after 10 years, Tony will be 3 times as old as James is today.

i.e. x+%2B+18 = 3%2A%28x%29
Moving x to the Right side, 18+=+2%2Ax or x+=+9

So, James is highlight%289%29 years old now and Tony is highlight%2817%29 years old now.

Hope this helps. :)

Ramki.
