Question 850594: a.
The length of a picture frame is 3 inches more than its width. The perimeter of the frame is 34 inches. Find the length and width of the frame
b. The picture inside of the frame is surrounded by 1/2 inch of frame on all sides. What is the perimeter of the picture Answer by Cromlix(4381) (Show Source):
You can put this solution on YOUR website! Width = x
Length = x + 3
Perimeter = 2*width + 2*length
34 = 2x + 2(x + 3)
34 = 2x + 2x + 6
34 = 4x + 6
4x = 34 - 6
4x = 28
x = 7
Width = 7 inches
Length = 10 inches
If the picture has 1/2 inch border all around it
This will equal 1 inch off length and width of frame
Width = 6 inches
Length = 9 inches.
Perimeter = 2*width + 2*length
Perimeter = 12 + 18
Perimeter = 30 inches
Hope this helps.
