I tried:
2s+1p=$55
1s+2s=$68
the answer was totally off.
not sure how to set this one up

Hi,
I. 2s+1p=$55
II. 1s+2+highlight_green%28p%29=$68 |Note used variable s rather than p
2s+1p=$55
-2s - 4p = -$136 |Multiplying EQ II thru by -2 and adding to the 1st to eliminate s (68*(-2) = -136)
-3p = - $81,
p = $27, the cost of the slacks
2s%2B27+=+55 s = $14,cost of a shirt
